Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, dropped out of school in 9th grade so that he could spent time rapping and battling other rappers on the streets.

At the age of 12 he began writing his own lyrics and even though he was a high school dropout, he worked hard to improve his language skills.

Reportedly, Eminem spend hours and hours reading the English dictionary and trying to memorize as many words as possible to enhance his rapping skills and improve his lyrics.

Obviously, in order to become one of the top rappers who writes and performs his own songs, which are more like autobiographical stories with real meaning, it took Eminem more than just a cool look and a cool act. In fact, it took a lot of hard work, reading, memorizing and practising. But it all paid off as Eminem remains one of the top and most recognizable rappers today.

Regarding the dictionary reading Eminem explained that he wanted to be able to just “pull out” a word when he needed it from his memory where he stored so many of them. The truth is that this meticulous reading and studying of the English dictionary has probably enabled Slim Shady to be so imaginative in creating his own pronunciations and has improved his ability to play with the words in his texts. This way words which at first glance don’t rhyme actually end up sounding perfectly together in his songs.
