Did you know that if a cow eats too many carrots, it’s milk will be….

We all know the milk in the store is white. The pure farmer milk is also white. However, there are some cases in which absolutely organic milk turns pink.

Many years ago a Jersey farmer, Peter Houguez, indulged his cows by feeding them with orange carrots. According to him, his dairy cattle were mad for these vegetables so he saw no harm in feeding them with carrots. However, when he milked them, their milk turned pink-ish. The farmer was puzzled at first, but then he got scared if there was something wrong with his cows, so he called a vet. After the vet examined the cows, it became clear that the cows’ diet consisted of grass, hay and orange carrots, which turned the milk pink. The old farmer found out French white carrots tasted just the same as orange ones, so he fed the cows with white carrots, which later turned the milk’s color back to white.
The pink milk isn’t dangerous. Furthermore, The National Farmers’ Union even suggests that it’s healthier thanks to the nutrients from the vegetables.
